Das unvollendete , frühere version wurde in gemalt 1868 . Kurz danach Manet’s tod , es wurde von john singer sargent in gekauft 1884 . Es wurde im letzten nur einmal öffentlich gezeigt 100 jahre in der nationalgalerie während einer retrospektive der artist’s arbeitet an der 100th jahrestag seines todes .
